NK Foods vs Foodlabo Saikoro: what is the difference?
The difference between NK Foods and Foodlabo Saikoro is marbling, cube size and price, not the style of cut. NK Foods Beef Cubes carry the deeper marbling and come smaller, at 85 to 95 cubes per kilo. Foodlabo Saikoro Steak comes 70 to 75 cubes per kilo, so each piece is bigger, and it costs ₱200 less per kilo.

Is NK Foods or Foodlabo cheaper per kilo?
Foodlabo is cheaper per kilo than NK Foods: ₱1,299 for the 1kg pack against ₱1,499, and ₱1,378 a kilo on the 500g pack against ₱1,538. Per cube the gap almost closes, because NK Foods cubes are smaller. The NK Foods 1kg works out to about ₱16 to ₱18 a cube, the Foodlabo 1kg to about ₱17 to ₱19.
Within each brand, the 500g pack always costs more per kilo than the 1kg. If you already know you like the cubes, the 1kg is the better buy. If you have never tried them, the ₱689 Foodlabo 500g is the cheapest way in.
How big are NK Foods and Foodlabo cubes?
NK Foods cubes weigh about 11 g each, going by 85 to 95 cubes in a 1kg pack. Foodlabo cubes weigh about 14 g each at 70 to 75 cubes per kilo, and the Foodlabo 500g runs a little bigger again at 14 to 17 g a cube. Cube size sets how long each piece needs in the pan.
The method is identical for both: thaw in the fridge, pat dry, salt, and sear in one uncrowded layer on a very hot pan for 1 to 2 minutes in total.
